C.A.R.E. JR Resumes September 22nd!

for immediate release

C.A.R.E. Stratford Junior (Common Action for the Restoration of the Environment) will be starting on Monday, September 22, 2008 at Shakespeare Public School. This program is for students in Gr. 1 to 6 interested in exploring environmental issues. C.A.R.E. Jr will meet once a month from 3:30- 5:00 p.m. Students will participate in environmental activities, integrating art, games, drama and exploration.

C.A.R.E. JR will build on the success of its first summer camp program. Providing citizens of all ages with opportunities to examine environmental issues and to develop action plans has always been integral to the vision and purpose of C.A.R.E. Stratford. The after school program will help to facilitate awareness and engagement of children. "I really liked when we did some of the science projects. I learned a lot about the environment" said Ethan, age six, C.A.R.E. Jr Summer Camp participant.

The program will be lead by (AMDSB) Educators Melanie Hahn and Meghan Lewington. "My son attended the CARE Jr summer camp and not only had an amazing time but is was a great chance for him to learn and explore. This fall, we're looking forward to involving more students in our community and increasing their environmental awareness," said Melanie Hahn, co-leader of C.A.R.E. Jr.

"I am so thankful to have Melanie and Meghan taking the lead for C.A.R.E. Jr. They are both excellent educators who will make the after-school program fun, informative and engaging." said Kerry McManus, C.A.R.E. Stratford chair.
